Ogun Police launch manhunt to arrest kidnappers of three family members

Police in Ogun State has launched a manhunt to arrest kidnappers who abducted three members of a family at their residential estate in Ijebu-Ode.

The operatives also intensified tactical operations to rescue the victims and reunite them to their family.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits numbering about 15 were said to have stormed Ipojo Golden Estate in Oke-Eri with sophisticated weapons and abducted the three persons.

The victims, two women and a man, were said to be family members.

Eyewitness reported that the kidnappers broke into a residence, and searched through the building, before abducting the three victims.

The head of the affected family, Yesiru Badewa, who was reportedly on official duty at the time of the incident, expressed deep sadness over the abduction.

Badewa said that one of the female victims was sick, allaying fear that the her health conditions might get worse in captive while appealing to government and relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency rescue the victims.

“This has devastated us. One of those taken is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity. We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.

However, in a swift reaction, the Ogun State Police Command said that that efforts are in top gear to rescue the victims.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said that the command has stepped up tactical operations to rescue the victims and arrest those responsible.

He urged residents to remain calm and reaffirmed the command’s determination to combat kidnapping and protect lives and property across the state.

“The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, and has intensified tactical and intelligence operations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.”

The Command remains proactive and committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.” Babaseyi added.
