To boost students’ competitive spirit and nurture sports talents, Oba Akinbiyi High School, Mokola, has held its 2023 annual Inter-House Sport competition.

Speaking at the event held at Leutmark Barracks, Ibadan, the Chairman, Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, Pastor Akinade Alamu commended the school for placing premium on sport activities and encouraging students to showcase their God-given talents.

Oyo News reports that the TESCOM Chair particularly commended the School’s Principal, Mrs. M.A Olatunji for uplifting education and sports in Oyo State.

He attested that she is one of the best Principals in Oyo State.

Speaking earlier, the Principal, Oba Akinbiyi High School, Mrs. Olatunji noted that this year’s competition is an opportunity for students to find expression through sports.

She said, “It is awesome seeing our students happy and competing against each other in a friendly manner.”

“We are really keen about our students standing out wherever they find themselves,” she added.

To uncover more talents, she stressed the need for the State to celebrate more sport talents and support them to build on their skills.

She said beyond the competition, the school is devoted to grooming talents not only academically, but also in sport.

She explained that the school has a number of students from previous inter house competitions that have competed in National Sports events, adding that in previous competitions, they have picked talented athletes

Also, students participated in track events, thug of war, inter-school relay competition among other sporting events.

The event was attended by parents, old students, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

Other guests include, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun. (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism); Mrs. Grace Oderinde, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Inclusion; Mr. Akinlayo Akinlade, Secretary, ANCOPSS and Principal, Loyola College among others.
