The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Honourable Miss Wasilat Adegoke paid a courtesy call to the Team Oyo Athletes at their camp in Asaba, Delta State.
The recently appointed commissioner expressed her joy at meeting the athletes firsthand and said she was impressed with their performances at the games so far.
She said: “With what is on ground, we have discovered these athletes based on their comparative strengths and frome there for my ministry will follow them up.”
During her visit, the Commissioner was flanked by the Acting General Manager the State’s Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike and the Director of Organization at the Sports Council, Kehinde Ojelowo with other officials.
Mr. Tunde Ajibike on his part commended the athletes for their performance and discipline for the past eight days.
He however charged them to improve in future competitions.
The athletes who were visibly elated at seeing the commissioner expressed their gratitude through the Team Captain Ojo Kehinde, who said Team Oyo will do better in future events they engage in.
Earlier, the management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke.

Executive Chairman of the Oluyole Warriors, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, who led the management team to the office of the Commissioner, said the visit was to officially welcome the commissioner to office and to build on the cordial relationship that has existed between the club and the ministry.
In her response, the Commissioner appreciated the visit of the 3SC management, even as she expressed her readiness to maintain the cordial relationship with the club.
The chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Acting General Manager/Team Manager, Dimeji Lawal, the team’s Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote and the Administrative Officer of the Club, Mr Babayemi A T.
