Oyo State contingent to the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged Edo 2020, has passed the COVID-19 screening, as stipulated by the organizers, oyonews.com.ng reports.
This was disclosed today by the General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr. Gboyega Makinde, while reacting to news making rounds that the contingent was disqualified.
He said that the athletes came to Edo State fully prepared, as each athlete and official from the State had been vaccinated, before leaving the state.
“We just had a minor issue which has been rectified. Perhaps the organizers were not aware that our athletes have been vaccinated. It is expected of the athletes to register along with their covid-19 immunization, so we were subjected to the screening again”, he said.
He disclosed that the athletes have been admitted and have gone through strict COVID-19 screening and testing.
“We are adhering to the guidelines given to the states and they have been qualified to participate in the nation’s biggest sports fiesta”, he said.
He therefore assured the public that Oyo state will participate in the sports fiesta and bring home laurels.
