The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, will on Wednesday evening, meet with officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and senior executives of banks in the state to proffer a lasting solution to the cash crunch in the state and country.
Oyo News reports that a source close to the Governor revealed this exclusive information.
He said the closed-door meeting might hold at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
Recall that Seyi Makinde was the first Governor to announce the suspension of his campaign activities over the unending fuel and new naira-note crisis.
Governor Makinde, announcing the suspension on February 3, 2023, noted that the suffering of his people is too much, adding that he was elected to protect their interests and well being.
Governor Makinde, who said this during the flag-off of the Omi Adio-Ido Road had directed leaders of the Party in Oyo State to suspend campaign.
A statement issued then, stated that the suspension was a mark of honour to citizens and residents of Oyo State, as he directed that all campaign activities of the party at all levels be suspended until further notice.
“Governor Seyi Makinde’s love for his people necessitated this unprecedented move, at this time. We urge all residents and citizens of the State to remain calm as we navigate through this difficult period together.”, the statement read.
Residents and citizens are hopeful that the meeting will address pressing issues, that concern the present naira crunch in the State.
