The Joint Action Forum, JAF, of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, of six tertiary institutions owned by the Oyo State government – the Polytechnic, Ibadan; Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo; Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora; and Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate – at its meeting held on Wednesday, 16th February, 2022 at the union’s state Secretariat, Ajibode Ibadan, has commended the prompt intervention of the Oyo State governor Engr Seyi Makinde-led government in the parlous state of the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.

The union’s commendation followed the manner the Makinde-led administration responded to the request to intervene in the infrastructural deficit and welfare of the college.

NASU applauded
Makinde for his magnanimous and kind nature in making sure that the welfare of the workers at the Lanlate College of Education is taken care of.

According to the union, the commendations became necessary, as it came at a time other state governments’ sing-song remains ‘No Fund’ to finance tertiary institutions, while workers were seriously suffering the non-payment of their monthly salary.

In a statement, signed by the chairman and secretary of the union, Comrades Akande A. Ibraheem and Oyeniyi T. Oyewale, respectively and made available to the media after the meeting, the union said, “We thank God who gave us Engr. Seyi Makinde as the messiah of our time, who always pays our monthly salary, as and when due. This has really reduced high level of poverty rate among the workers in Oyo State-owned tertiary institutions.

“NASU JAF would like to act like Oliver Twist, by appealing to the worker-friendly governor, Engr. Makinde, to visit other institutions and provide for their needs, especially the Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora; and Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, which are not financially buoyant to pay salary and meet other needs without looking elsewhere.”
