Chief Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi of Ikeja Magistrate Court on Tuesday sentenced a teenager, Ishola Yusuf, to two years and three months in Borstal Correctional Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State for attempted theft.

The magistrate sentenced the convict to three months for scaling the fence and two years for attempting to steal.

She also held that the sentence will run concurrently without the option of a fine.

“It will serve as a deterrent to others,” the magistrate said.

During court proceedings, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed on November 28, 2022, at 20, Salumonu Street, Agege, Lagos.

Akeem said, “The convict was arraigned on December 2, 2022, pleaded guilty, and has been in the correctional facility since then.

“He scaled the fence of Mr Ben Njoku’s house with intent to steal and was caught before committing the crime.”

The offence contravened the provisions Sections 168 and 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, Akeem added. OYO NEWS
