The youngest lawmaker in Nigeria, Hon. Rukayat Shittu has accused music stars, of glamourizing drug abuse to mislead teenage minds into a lifestyle they are not equipped live.

The lawmaker, a member of Kwara State House of Assembly representing Owode Onire state constituency, also chided movie celebrities, skit makers, Big Brother Naija and other influencers of glamourizing drug abuse.

The sensational politician has also proposed to different national bodies, including National Broadcasting Corporation, Nigerian Senate, Federal House of Representatives, Nigeria Union of Journalists amongst others, the need to key into the proposed move to regulate social media against the exposure of drug abuse related content.

The lawmaker, who is a former senate president at the Congress of NOUN Students (CONS) in her proposal, accused music stars such as Burnaboy, Olamide, Wizkid, Asake, Rema and many others of using their influence to promote and glamorize drug abuse.

She also accused reality show promoter, Big Brother Naija, skit makers, and movie celebrities of deliberate drug abuse promotion in their content, calling for stronger regulations, which maybe criminal in nature against culprits.

The lawmaker was born on 6 June 1996 in Manyan, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

She attended Baptist Primary School LGEA in Ilorin, and Government Girls Day Secondary School, Oko Erin where she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2011.

The Lawmaker attended Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies where she obtained a diploma certificate in Mass Communication and Islamic Studies in 2015.

In 2017, she got admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to study Mass Communication and graduated in 2022.
