Lawmaker, representing Oluyole federal constituency, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has mourned the death of a party leader, Hon. Oyeniran Oyeniyi Akande, also known as Kosigiri.

Akande-Sadipe, who revealed this on Friday, said the late stalwart of her party, All Progressives Congress, died on September 12, 2024.

She described Akande, popularly called Kosigiri, as a man of immense wisdom and a devoted leader of the APC.

“Baba Kosigiri was an accountant by profession, who transitioned from a successful career in banking to become a formidable force in the political arena. He served as the Majority Leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly during the first term of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi”, she noted.

“As we lay to rest one great leader, our dear APC Chairman, Ajiboye Omodewu, we are met with the sorrowful news of another leader moving on to glory with the triumphant angels. What a profound loss this is for us, yet a gain for heaven. Our beloved leader, fondly nicknamed “Baba Kosigiri,” Hon. Oyeniran Oyeniyi Akande, has also gone to be with the Lord”.

“Akande, was aged 87 years. His departure marks the loss of an irreplaceable stalwart in our midst”.

He served as the Majority Leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly during the first term of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

“Baba Kosigiri’s exit is indeed a triumphant one. His leadership and counsel were instrumental to the progress of the APC in Oluyole. He was a leader who selflessly devoted himself to the service of his people and his party, and his legacy will be felt for generations to come”.

She added, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and associates of both Ajiboye Omodewu and Baba Kosigiri. May the Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses”.

Let us take comfort in the knowledge that both leaders have fought the good fight and have now gone to rest in the Lord’s peace.
