A Senior lecturer at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Dr. Islamiyat Folashade Bolarinwa has gotten a grants from Innovative UK, both totalling £182,442.
Bolarinwa is the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Food and Consumer Sciences at LAUTECH.
According to the senior lecturer at LAUTECH, the grants are in collaboration with some academics at the University of Leeds.
Purpose of the first grant of £29,726 whose tenure runs between October 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023, is to increase the availability of high protein foods and reduce Protein-energy malnutrition.
The second grant of £152,715, running for April 2023 to July 2024, is to serve the purpose of reducing post-harvest losses of food crops and increase food security.
They are both under the Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
Oyo News reported earlier that the Ogbomoso-based University, for the umpteenth time, was ranked the best State University in Nigeria.
