The Management of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) today hosted Post Graduates Students of School of Transportation, Lagos State University at its Headquarters, Oshodi Lagos.
The General Manager of the Authority, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba who received the students on behalf of the Authority disclosed that LASTMA was a child of necessity as of the time it was established on the 15th of July, 2000 by the then administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He disclosed further that the Agency was established mainly for traffic regulations which includes enforcement and safety of lives.
According to the General Manager “all activities around the world centres on transportation”
Mr. Oreagba urged them to be a good ambassador of their respective family and shun all.social vices that could derailed them from concentrating on their education.
The General Manager while commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for investing huge resources on the transportation system confirmed that the rail project along Badagry axis would commence operations very soon.
In response, Master Jude Adeleye who spoke on behalf of the students commended the operatives of the Agency for regulating transportation activities in Lagos.
He however called on the government to provide more security for officers against incessant attacks by motorists particularly commercial bus drivers.
