Dr. Haroun Hamzat, half brother to the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, is dead. He died of complications from Covid-19.

His death was announced on Tuesday, 5 January, 2021 by the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA.

According to the statement, the young medical doctor who worked in one of the public health centres in Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA, was aged 37.

Further investigation from Orile Agege LCDA revealed that the young doctor may have died from complications arising from Covid-19 infection.

Mourning his brother’s demise, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat wrote “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilahi raji’un

It is with utmost sadness that I announce the passing of my younger Brother. Dr. Haroun Hamzat”.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his sins, grant him eternal tranquility and Al-Janah Firdaus. Ameen”.

He further urged residents to be conscious of the volatility of Covid-19, saying, “We should not only do this for ourselves, but for everyone we come in contact with”.

“Stay safe, use your masks, sanitize or was your hands regularly and maintain social distance”.
