Kwankwaso condemns Plateau mob killing of Kaduna victims

In a somber statement released on Saturday, former Kano State Governor and presidential flagbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, expressed sorrow over a barbaric mob attack in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, claimed the lives of at least 12 travelers from the Basawa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, who were en route to a wedding ceremony.

Kwankwaso described the attack as another tragic episode of peaceful travelers losing their lives to violent elements along transit routes.

“I am saddened by the barbaric mob action on wedding-goers in Plateau State, which has resulted in the death of at least 12 travelers from Basawa community of Zaria local government area of Kaduna State. 

This attack in Mangu local government area of Plateau is another sad episode of peaceful travelers losing their lives in the hands of violent elements along transit routes,” the statement read.

Kwankwaso also urged authorities to take swift action to ensure that the perpetrators of the attack face the wrath of the law.

He also called on traditional and religious leaders as well as government stakeholders to prioritise orienting the people against such mob actions.

“My deepest sympathies go to the bereaved families. I also extend my condolences to the families of those affected by the explosion in Kano. May the Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest,” he concluded.
