The Honourable Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dr. Dele Alake, on Monday, visited the University College Hospital, Ibadan to sympathize with victims of the explosion that recently occurred in Ibadan.


The minister who arrived at the Ibadan Airport was welcomed by the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo.

The minister while on the visit stated that he was in the hospital on the directive of his excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR)

He said “I have come to convey the deep sympathies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the victims of the explosion and their families. Such tragic events are incredibly challenging, and my thoughts are with these victims and their families during this difficult time.”

He also commended the Hospital for providing prompt and crucial care to the victims of the explosion saying the dedication and swift response they received undoubtedly made a significant difference in their recovery process.

In his response Prof. Jesse Otegbayo said the visit underscored the government’s commitment to supporting the affected individuals and the collaborative efforts between the federal government and healthcare institutions to address the aftermath of the tragic incident.
