As the team prepares for Sunday’s crucial matchday 37 encounter against Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, players of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), said they will go all out for the much needed victory over the visitors.
Rivers United will be guests of the Ibadan soccer lords at the Lekan Salami Stadium, in a match the homers must win convincingly so, to keep alive their chances of retaining their premier league status.
However, going by feelers emanating from the camp of Rivers United, the Oluyole Warriors must be at their best to get the maximum points as Rivers United, though have already won the league, insists they will fight to get something out of the game in Ibadan.
Apparently aware of this, players of 3SC, led by their skipper, Omololu Waheed Abiodun, said they will give all their best to ensure the visitors are not only taken to the cleaners, but in a convincing manner.
“We know what is on ground, our lives depend on this particular match as it will either make or mar our dream of remaining in the premier league and we are fully prepared for the match because we know anything short of victory will not be good for us.
“It is not going to be easy. We even heard they said they are coming to beat us but that will not happen here on Sunday. We cannot afford to fail not only ourselves but the ever supportive government and the people of Oyo State, as well as millions of our supporters all over the globe. It is going to be fight to finish, but we will get the job done”, said the 3SC captain.
The Ibadan soccer lords have been unbeaten in their last four games and would strive to sustain the momentum even with a win over Rivers United on Sunday evening.
The game, which will be played behind closed doors, will kick off by 4.00pm.
