The Emeka & Bunmi Anyaoku Foundation Centre in Obosi, Anambra State, was unveiled on Thursday to mark the 91st birthday of former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.


Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who attended the event shared pictures on his Facebook page on Thursday evening.

He wrote, “Today, I had the honour of attending the opening of the Emeka & Bunmi Anyaoku Foundation Centre in Obosi and the 91st birthday celebration of Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

“The centre is more than just a building; it stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of a man who has given immeasurably to the world.

“Including a museum, a library and acting as a hub for philanthropy, it encapsulates the spirit of Chief Anyaoku’s contributions.

“Holding a dear place in our hearts as a son of Anambra and as a global icon, Chief Anyaoku’s influence reaches across continents.

“Chief Anyaoku’s life has been marked by his service on a global stage, exemplified by his diligent representation of the Commonwealth’s 54 member states, underscoring his priceless global contributions.

“It occurs to me that we have not celebrated this hero of ours enough. Today is thus significant; it is a day for acknowledging his immense achievements and expressing our profound gratitude.

“I fervently encourage everyone to visit this remarkable centre to truly appreciate its magnificence and the essence of the man it celebrates.”
