
Fire Guts Filling Station in Saki, Destroys Property Worth Millions
Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following a fire outbreak involving a petroleum tanker at a filling station in Saki, Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred earlier today, was confirmed by the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande.
According to him, the fire broke out when a DAF trailer tanker with registration number AAB 943 YL (Abuja), loaded with 50,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), caught fire at the filling station.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the filling station, the DAF trailer tanker loaded with 50,000 litres of PMS, one Bajaj motorcycle, and dispensing pumps were already engulfed by intense flames and thick smoke,” Akinwande said.
He added that the fire affected the filling station, the tanker, three dispensing pumps, and a Bajaj motorcycle before it was brought under control.
No casualty was reported as of the time of filing this report.
