The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected electric cable vandals and recovered vandalised electric cables in Delta State.
In a press release statement released on 27th June, 2026, by the PRO Delta State Command, SP. Bright Edafe, the suspects were caught on 25 June 2026, at about 10:30 pm, with the joint efforts of operatives from Kwale Police station and members of the vigilante group, who acted on reliable information that suspected vandals were dismantling and stealing electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road.
The suspects attempted to evade arrest after sighting the team, and one of the suspects sustained injury and is presently receiving treatment at the hospital, while one of the suspects is in custody.
The suspects, later identified as Osakwe Sunday (28 years) and Ekene Obocha (34 years), were caught with vandalised electric cables, which have been recovered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, warned criminals to desist from vandalising government critical infrastructure and other public assets, adding that the command will not relent in efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders.
The CP also encouraged members of the public to always provide timely and credible information to the police.
