Army Restates Commitment to Develop Effective Leadership Skills of Personnel

The Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Ndalolo, has restated commitment of the service to develop effective leadership skills and qualities of junior commanders to enhance professionalism.

Ndalolo stated this on Wednesday at the flag off of the 2025 Inter Formations Combat Platoon Orienteering and Adventure Championship in Igbeti, Oyo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ndalolo was represented by Brig.-Gen. Emem Etuk, Director, Nigerian Army Physical Training, at the event hosted by 2 Division, Nigerian Army.

Ndalolo said that the event was designed to sustain Nigerian Army troops’ training capabilities, and enhance their operational and combat readiness under a competitive atmosphere.

He said that the participants were drawn from different formations of the Nigerian Army.

“These formations include; Army Headquarters Garrison Abuja, 1 Division Kaduna, 2 Division Ibadan, 3 Division Jos, 6 Division Portharcourt, and 8 Division Sokoto.

“Equally, there are personnel from 81 Division Lagos, 82 Division Enugu, and 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa State,” he said.

Ndalolo said that the participants would be competing on several fronts, which include; 5km run, physical fitness test, point – to – point navigation, and 15km dash back amongst other training activities.

He said that drawing troops from various Nigerian Army formations across the nation was to expose them to circumstances necessary for developing team spirit, camaraderie and tactics towards achieving efficiency and set operational objectives.

Ndalolo said the training aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy and further reaffirms the need for continuous robust training activities for troops at all levels

He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen.Olufemi Oluyede, for his strategic guidance in bringing Nigerian Army troops up to speed in line with military global best practices, and providing necessary logistics to ensure successful conduct of the championship.

Ndalolo also expressed gratitude to Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Bashir Abioye and the good people of Igbeti kingdom for approving their request to hold this championship in Igbeti and for their friendliness and hospitality.

He urged the participants irrespective of their formations to uphold the tenets of comradeship, bearing in mind that their collective work was towards achieving an objective for the common good of the nation.
