Akande-Sadipe Debunks Media Claims of Rejection, Clarifies Events at Oluyole Party Meeting

Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Member of the House of Representatives representing Oluyole Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally challenged recent media narratives that mischaracterised her engagement at party meetings in the constituency, saying the reports were inaccurate and misleading.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe, a federal lawmaker known for her representation of Oluyole residents and her leadership roles in the House of Representatives, said the contested article conflated two different meetings, an historical general party meeting in 2025 and a sector meeting held on 28 January 2026, and misrepresented her conduct and the true outcome of those gatherings.

The lawmaker clarified that the past general meeting involving both sectors of Oluyole did not result in any rejection, embarrassment or calls for her to drop her political ambitions, as some reports suggested.

According to her, the gathering reflected her acceptance and support among party members across the constituency.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe emphasised that the 28 January 2026 meeting was a sector-specific APC meeting for the Idi Ayunre Sector, comprising Wards 2, 5, 8, 9 and 10 intended strictly for registered members of that sector to deliberate on internal APC matters.

She said attendance by people from other wards was inappropriate and outside party protocols.

Akande-Sadipe described her reception at the meeting as warm and enthusiastic upon arrival, noting that she was invited to address the members after senior party leaders.

Her remarks were calm, focused on sector development issues, and highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements, not campaign matters.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe said tension only arose when a notable party elder criticised the presence of individuals from another sector who had entered the meeting without authorization and distributed cash and food items, actions she said were inappropriate for an internal party meeting.

Following rising verbal disruptions from those attendees, she said party members were advised to disengage peacefully to avoid escalation.

Addressing other inaccuracies, she denied that she attended either meeting with an excessive security detail, or that she fled in embarrassment.

The Lawmaker said departures from the venue were orderly and intended only to maintain peace.

She also clarified that disagreements previously attributed to the party’s vice chairman with respect to her attitude stemmed from a past policy dispute and have since been resolved.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe urged media outlets and the public to uphold accuracy and caution in reporting political events, stressing that fair coverage is essential for democratic discourse.

Her clarification comes amid ongoing political engagement in the lead up to future party activities in the state.

Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Humanitarian Services and has a record of constituency development initiatives.
