Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Prof. Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the pioneer Acting Vice Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED) Ilorin.

 

A professor of mathematics education, she was until the appointment a senior lecturer at the department of science education and coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin.

Folorunsho Salman had her Bachelor of Education from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1985; a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Ilorin in 1990; and a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education from University of Ilorin in 1998.

She is the first female professor from Ilorin Emirate.

Her research interests are Mathematics Education, gender issues in mathematics and science education, and innovation in mathematics education in the developing world.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sent his congratulations to Prof. Nazmat Surajudeen-Bakinde over her appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) in the Gambia.

The appointment is another testimony to the power of education, hard work, commitment, and integrity, and another reason that everyone, including the girl child, deserves a fair chance to have good education, the Governor says.

“Her outstanding successes and strides in leadership positions do not come as a surprise, given the positive reviews she has received in the academics community over the years, including as the immediate past President of Offa Engineers,” according to the Governor.

Governor Abdulrazaq wishes the Offa-born Professor of electrical and electronics engineering a successful tenure as the USET’s new leader in the Gambia.
