The son of Dr. Olusegun Oladimeji, fondly known as Segelu has appealed to the Federal Government to compensate the death of his father, a victim politically motivated assassination.

Speaking to OYO NEWS recently, his son, Olayinka Oladimeji said that his father was a philanthropist and a respected statesman, lawmaker, and beloved father.

His gruesome killing sent shockwaves across the nation and left a deep void in the heart of Oyo State.

According to him, “Segelu was more than a public servant; he was a symbol of integrity, vision, and selfless leadership. But on that dark day, his life was cut short by the hands of wicked men, whose actions were driven by fear, envy, and political desperation.”

Aare Olayinka Segelu said, “I declare with the authority of truth that the killers of my father, their sponsors, and supporters – whether within or outside the political pillars of Oyo State or Nigeria– shall never know peace. The earth itself will rise against them, for the blood of the innocent does not dry without justice.”

“Before his untimely death, Segelu had already passed on a sacred mantle to his son, appointing Aare Olayinka as his legislative assistant during his tenure in the National Assembly. Together, they worked in Abuja, preparing for a greater future of service.”

Since the assassination, Aare Olayinka has faced multiple efforts to suppress and frustrate his political journey. Yet, he has remained unwavering in his resolve to carry forward his father’s legacy and vision.

He said, “Though many have tried to block my path, and though threats have come my way, I will not be deterred. I carry the mantle my father placed upon me — not just in name, but in vision, capacity, and purpose. Segelu lives on — in me, in those whose lives he touched, and in the mission we now reignite.”
