About 150 golfers nationwide are expected to participate in the 18th edition of the IGC Ladies Open scheduled for Friday 25 to Sunday 27 of February 2022.

The Lady Captain of the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Mary Okunola revealed this to newsmen.

According to Okunola, the event tagged: “Swing Sensation” will also be attended by the Executives of Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LAGAN), while the ladies night tagged ‘Valentine Re-mix’, is slated for Saturday 26th 2022.

In the programme line up of the event, Friday, which is the arrival date, will also witness a cocktail for the participants, as veteran with handicap 29-36 and ladies with handicap 0-28 are scheduled to take the course along with guest men on Saturday.

And on Sunday, day-3 of the tournament, the concluding games, closing ceremony and price presentations will take place.

The event will also signal the end of the tenure of Mary Okunola and other members of her Executive Committee among whom are the experienced lady golfers as Chief (Mrs.) Ronke Thomas who is the Vice Lady Captain, Ms. Evelyn Oyome, the Competition Secretary, Ms. Grace Brown, Handicap Secretary and Ms. Omolaraeni Olaosebikan the Secretary.

While reviewing the achievements recorded by her leadership, Okunola, who was also a former Vice President LAGAN Southwest, recalled that IGC had during her tenure hosted many memorable events in the past which included the Women Golf Day and the Western Zone Ladies Open for two consecutive years.

“I thank God for a successful tenure that is filled with sweet and sore memories, as I pray for the repose of the soul of our late Captain, Ola Ibironke Dudu. We did our best by putting together series of children’s golf clinics to encourage and help them to develop interest in golf”, she said.
