A 14 year-old girl, identified as Mercy reportedly attempted committing suicide as she swallowed poisonous substance in Ibadan South-west Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Details as to why the girl attempted suicide were still sketchy as of the time of this report.
However, she was promptly rescued by locals and medical personnel, who saw when she fainted.
The girl, who is said to be a student of Methodist Grammar School, Ibadan has been rushed to the Vine Hospital, Ring-road OYO NEWS learnt.
Though sketchy, a source said, “An argument ensued between Mercy and her father on a missing note of N500. Her father had left, when the mother and her elder siblings scolded her. After the mother left for work, she attempted to swallow DD Force. Someone from the girl ‘s school reported that she was unconscious. The mother, with the help of neighbours rushed her to University College Hospital, Ibadan, but the Doctors were on strike. They also rushed her to Kejide Hospital, where a Doctor made attempts to ventilate her through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation”.
“After failed attempts, the girl was rushed to the Vine Hospital, where the Doctor on duty and nurses, did well to revive her”.
Our source says Miss Mercy is responding to treatment.
An activist, Mr. Toye Adewale advised that suicide is not an option to whatever problems people face.
